Denver-based attorney who acted as Zazi’s defense counsel. He said he had no

shadow government of the Conservative Party. He resigned from the shadow
government in June 2008, more than a year before the Zazi arrest. In any case,

a note about the author
Edward Jay Epstein graduated from Cornell University and
received a Ph.D. from Harvard. His undergraduate thesis on the
search for political truth became a best- selling book, Inquest: The
Warren Commission and the Establishment of Truth. His doctoral
dissertation on television news was excerpted in The New Yorker
and published as News from Nowhere. After teaching political science
at MIT and UCLA, he became a full- time author. He won the
prestigious Financial Times/Booz Allen & Hamilton Global Business
Book Award for both best biography and best business book
for Dossier: The Secret History of Armand Hammer. He has written
investigative pieces for The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, The Atlantic,
and The New York Review of Books. He lives in New York City.

The text of this book was set in a typeface called Aldus, designed by
the celebrated typographer Hermann Zapf in 1952– 53. Based on
the classical proportion of the popular Palatino type family, Aldus
was originally adapted for Linotype composition as a slightly
lighter version that would read better in smaller sizes.
Hermann Zapf was born in Nuremberg, Germany, in 1918. He
has created many other well known typefaces including Comenius,
Hunt Roman, Marconi, Melior, Michelangelo, Optima, Saphir, Sistina,
Zapf Book and Zapf Chancery.
