Let’s face it, we’ve all missed a workout or two, but if skipping your session has become part of your regular routine, it’s time to figure out why. Here’s our dos and don’ts for what to do if you skipped a workout:

Don’t double-up

Doing twice the work in one session to make up for the last isn’t going to help you get fitter; instead, it’s more likely to cause you an injury.

Do re-evaluate

Is your schedule working for you? Are you missing a particular session every week? Do you like the activity you’re doing? These are all vital questions to ask yourself. And be honest.

Don’t feel guilty

Sometimes it’s ok to miss a workout; sometimes you really do need that rest. But, feeling guilty about it isn’t going to help. So, take the time, rest, and then get back to business.

Do pace yourself

Hitting your workout at full speed may be exhilarating at first, but after a couple of sessions, you’re likely to burn out or cause yourself an injury. Start slow and pace your activity to add longevity to your workouts.

Don’t give up

This is key rule number 1 – never give up. Whether you’ve missed a session, had a setback, or simply don’t want to; it’s vital you keep going no matter what.
