Every so often we feel worn out and wonder how to regain our energy. If you find it difficult to cut back on multi-tasking and to decompress, meditation may be just the right tool to help you get your energy back.
The feeling of fatigue should not stand in the way of your meditation practice. Those who meditate regularly say being tired is the optimal time for meditation. The reason is that before you embark on the journey of meditation, you need to calm down. And feeling tired means you are already relaxed. The more relaxed you are, the easier it is to focus. The more focused you are, the more productive your practice will be.
It is important that you concentrate on the sensation of drowsiness. With every deep breath observe and accept this feeling. If you like to visualize, imagine that your whole body is filled with warm, powerful light, nourishing every cell of your body, and calming, uplifting your energy. You can also visualize any other positive image that comes naturally to you. There is no right or wrong option here.
For this meditation you don’t have to sit cross-legged, just sitting in a comfortable position or lying down is good enough. Of course, if you are already tired and you lie down there is always a possibility you may fall asleep. And if you do so, it’s not a big deal. This would only mean you are completely relaxed. And it’s a good sign. You may wake up and go back to your meditation or just continue to sleep.
One way or another, with the help of meditation you may either get renewed energy by acknowledging the feeling of tiredness or you may just fall asleep and get better quality rest from the sleep you get.
