The quality of your rest depends on how comfortable you feel during sleep. Mattress, bedding and pajamas are important components of a first-rate rest.

What to wear during sleep?

When talking of a good night’s sleep, it’s not what kind of pajamas you wear but what it’s made of that counts. First of all, stick with natural materials for your pajamas. The selection of fabric should depend on the weather and season. Choose refreshing and cooling materials for summer: silk, cotton, linen. And for cold weather try wool, fleece and flannel. Keep it loose, don’t sleep in tight clothes.

How about sleeping nude? This way you don’t need to worry about whether the material of pajamas is breathable or not. Also researches have found that sleeping nude can boost self-confidence and increase happiness level. If you and your partner both sleep naked, your bodies can release a feel-good hormone due to the skin contact.

Bedding tips

Choose natural fabric for your sheets; cotton, satin and fleece. Same as with pajamas, try the material for your covers based on the season. It’s probably not a great idea to use fleece bedding during summer time when it’s hot.

Keep it clean and change your bed sheets once a week during winter and every four or five days during summer. Fresh sheets are good for a healthy sleep and a good-looking skin.

If you experience anxiety or high stress levels, try sleeping under weighted blankets. They reduce the negative side effects and stimulate serotonin production. Serotonin regulates sleep and can fight depression and insomnia.

Importance of a good mattress

A right mattress provides a better sleep and helps you wake up rested and full of energy. A proper mattress is important for both sleep health and body health.

Make sure to choose a proper size and firmness to feel comfortable at night. Tossing and turning during the night might be a sign for buying a new mattress. Your mattress should provide an adequate spine support for preventing back and neck pains but should not be too firm because that might contribute to joint pain.

The mattress should not be older than 7 years. If it is too old all the dust that is stored in it might cause allergies.

Don’t try to save up on the mattress, it is a good investment into a good sleep and health.
