As you know summers vary from sunny and pleasant to unbearably hot. Prepare for a walking workout taking into account weather extremes. There are some useful tips to follow that will make your summer training safe and comfortable.
First, go for a walk in the early morning or in the evening to take advantage of cooler temperatures. No matter what time you choose, wear light-colored clothing to keep you safe and cool.
Second, summer weather can fluctuate drastically. It ranges from extreme heat to severe thunderstorms, so make sure you check the weather forecast before going out. During the day, always apply sunscreen 30 minutes before heading out.
Finally, bring as much water as you need for your walk, to make sure you don’t get dehydrated. There are many kinds of easy-to-hold bottles for runners and walkers, so you won't be hindered by carrying them.
Always pay attention to where you walk. It might be entertaining to check your cell phone or listen to music on your walk, but not paying attention to sounds and sights can cause you to miss safety warning signs. You'll also miss a chance to experience nature to the full, and clear your head while training your body.
