First, we need to say that there are different views on cheat meals among dieticians. While this trick is widely used by bodybuilders, other fitness professionals and nutritionists do not support it. Cheat meals are the feasts that a person who keeps to a diet has once every week or two. The idea is that you're allowed to eat anything you want. This is usually what you cut down on, like chocolate, pizza, cakes and so on. This is done for psychological reasons, as it's difficult to constantly refuse food that you crave so much when you have a goal in mind. However, such binge eating can be more harmful than you think. Dietitians agree that it's better to allow yourself a small piece of chocolate in the morning that won't pass your calorie limit than to go all out on a cheat day. If a cheat day prevents you from having a calorie deficit over a week's course, then you need to carefully consider whether you need it or not. And you can also feel pangs of guilt afterwards – you've been training hard and counting calories, but cheat day ruined your efforts. What's more, lots of people report that when you keep to a well-balanced diet, you stop craving fast food and sugary food.
