You must have heard that eating small portions 6 times a day will help you lose weight. Well, not exactly. The thing is, the frequency of your meals doesn't matter as long as you eat healthy, maintain calorie deficit and watch your protein, carb and fat intake.
So if you find it convenient to have 6 smaller meals a day – that's fine. If you prefer having 3 bigger meals a day – that's fine too. However, there are a few things to remember here.
- First, don't skip breakfast. Numerous studies have shown that people who eat breakfast are less prone to overeating later during a day and lose fat faster.
- Second, try to make your breakfast and lunch satisfying and have a lighter dinner. It's not that people who eat a heavy dinner will definitely gain weight. It's overeating that matters, not the time of the day, but people tend to overeat at night, so be cautious.
- And third, be prepared. Carry fresh fruit or veggies with you to have a snack when you feel hungry. This prevents overeating and keeps your blood sugar level at a normal rate.
