Even though meditation seems to bring you many positive paybacks, it may be hard to keep practicing it regularly. You may feel less motivated because of different reasons, including fear of doing something the wrong way, lack of experience or clear results.
Since you know yourself best, choose what works for you and elaborate your own “motivational” points. Here are some ideas to consider:
Keep a meditation journal to see your progress, read inspirational stories, and watch movies that make you feel uplifted.
Ask your friends or family (or both) to support you and help you keep on track.
Create a list of benefits you get from the meditation and put it in a visible place. “Feel relaxed,” “I sleep better,” “Boost of energy” are examples that can be included in the list.
And stay committed to your goal, whether it’s weight loss, anti-stress or better sleep. Visualize your reward for when you accomplish your goal - having a clear image of future benefits is a great motivator. As an option, you can perceive it as a challenge, where you’ll get a great reward upon its completion.
It’s not only a great tool for goal accomplishment, but also a pleasant experience. Feel how your entire body is getting relaxed or how you expand inside.
Feeling comfortable is key: if you feel discomfort while sitting, lie down. Make sure you practice in a quiet place with all devices turned off.
If you meditate every day, it will become a habit, like brushing your teeth. In the beginning, it may be difficult, but once you make it an integral part of your life, you won’t need to seek for motivation all the time.
