You've been exercising and counting calories for a long time now and at the beginning your body responded to these changes by rapid fat loss. But then it stopped, and you see the same numbers on the scale day after day despite all your efforts. Relax, it's normal, and it’s known as a plateau. Running is one of the best ways to lose weight. However, this weight loss may not happen right away. This does not mean that you’re not making progress. The first thing you need to realize is that your weight may not be changing, but your body is. You may be shredding fat but gaining muscle, and you’re beginning to look and feel much better. The composition of your body is changing, and you will notice that your clothes will soon be looser even if your weight remains the same. Over time, your muscle growth will plateau and the scale will start to show your weight loss. Just keep doing what you're doing and don't pay too much attention to the scale. However, you may be breaking your calorie deficit without even noticing it. Remember that large portion of food at the restaurant? Or the fancy salad dressing? Everything counts. Try to carefully track how many calories you eat and burn and you'll see progress again. Weight loss plateaus may also occur if you eat fewer calories than you need, since this causes your body to slow down its metabolism process in response. This may happen if you're not significantly overweight and only need to shed extra 5-8 pounds. The closer you get to your ideal weight, the slower the progress is. Experiment with food and exercise and notice what's working for you. You need to make these changes - eating healthy and exercising regularly. Staying healthy is about making an effort to improve your permanent lifestyle, not just a temporary effort to look good for bikini season. Consistency is the key. However, if nothing else is working, there are 2 possibilities: you are already in a perfect form, or you may have a problem with your health, such as a hormonal imbalance. If this is the case, you need to seek professional help. In the other cases - diet and exercise are your best friends.
