Platform Industry 4.0, defines the term as "the intelligent networking of machines and processes in industry with the aid of information and communication technology". Industry 4.0 therefore means the fusion of digitalization with traditional industrial processes. This results in intelligent value chains and product lifecycles that start with development, go through manufacturing, assembly, product delivery and maintenance, and end with recycling.
