Germany aims to import Nigerian natural gas
Germany is considering importing natural gas from Nigeria to ensure security and diversification of energy supply, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said during a visit to the country.
“This will also have an impact on the global gas price,” Scholz said in the Nigerian capital Abuja on Sunday after a meeting with president Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu said that given Nigeria’s sizable resources, “we are ready to encourage investments in a gas pipeline.”
Germany, which shut down its last nuclear power plants this year and turned away from Russian pipeline gas during last year's energy crisis, will need large volumes of LNG to supply its energy-intensive industry.
So far, the European economic powerhouse is getting crude oil from Nigeria, but not gas.
Scholz's trip to Africa this week is his third since taking office two years ago.
On Monday, Scholz also plans to travel to Ghana.

33 trucks containing beds, food, and some medical and hygiene supplies have been allowed to enter into Gaza from Egypt, a spokesperson at the Rafah crossing confirmed.
12 trucks carried medical supplies and 3 held assorted medical items. Two transported water and sanitation equipment into the area on Sunday.

The Arktika-M satellites operate in a highly elliptical orbit, which allows them to explore the Arctic region. The two spacecraft would provide round-the-clock monitoring of the Earth's surface and clouds, as well as seas in the Arctic region.

"According to the preliminary plan, the launch of the Soyuz-2.1b rocket with the Fregat upper stage and the Arktika-M satellite №2 is scheduled for 12.17 p.m. Moscow time [09:17 GMT] on December 16, 2023," the source said.

No fuel for water or hospitals.”
The delivery was equivalent to “only 9% of what we need daily to sustain lifesaving activities,” he added.
Israel has refused to allow fuel into Gaza, saying Hamas and other armed groups could divert it for military purposes.
